5 MUST-DOS BEFORE SUMMER ENDS
No Summer seems complete without a trip to Ravinia. If you’re not familiar, Ravinia is North America’s oldest music festival, presenting over 140 different events throughout the summer. These concerts run the gamut from Yo-Yo Ma to John Legend to the annual summer residency of the nation’s finest orchestra, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
The 36-acre park is nestled in a gently wooded area that makes it an enchanting place to experience music. Guests can bring their own picnics or eat at one of the park restaurants.
Children up to age 15, high school and college students are admitted free to the lawn for classical performances.
Grab your friends, pack your favorite snacks and Perrier flavor sparkling water and enjoy music and laughter under the stars!
2. THROW ONE LAST OUTDOOR SUMMER SOIRE
You’ve heard me say it before, but I absolutely love to entertain. Whether it’s a small brunch for close friends, hosting fight-night for the boys or a classic dinner party for family – entertaining is in my blood.
Shawn and I are in the process of remodeling the house, but before we do, and the Summer nights come to a quick close, hosting family and close friends at home is a must-do!
This Summer, we’ve been enjoying cocktails and mocktails with Perrier sparkling water. Have you tried them yet? Y’all, the strawberry, watermelon and pink grapefruit are to-die-for! Whether you’re packing them in your lunch bag or tote – or adding them to your Summer cooler – friends are family are sure to ensure these refreshing treats!

3. SAIL LAKE MICHIGAN
Sailing the lake has been on my bucket list for the last several summers here in Chicago.
See Chicago like you never have before with a a private sailing lesson or tour. Escape the noise and the bustle of the city without leaving your zip code. Chicago Sailing offers a variety of boats and activities that make getting off land and onto the lake easier than ever.
With lessons, charters, and rentals we can help you experience the city and the lake like you have never seen them before. Our fleet of over 20 vessels ranging from 22′-53′ and staff of US Sailing & USCG certified instructors and captains means you will always have a enjoyable and safe experience on Lake Michigan.
I had an opportunity to experience Chicago sailing with Helly Hansen last Summer during the National Offshore One Regatta. It was an incredible way to experience the lake and this fabulous city.
4. WEEKEND GETAWAY TO LAKE GENEVA
There are fewer things Shawn and I love to do during the Summer than to plan a trip to Lake Geneva. It’s been a Summer tradition of ours for the last several years. With this Summer being so busy, it’s hard to believe we haven’t yet had a chance to coordinate a trip.
If you’ve never been, a stay at the Grand Geneva is a great experience. With a stunning golf course, several on-site dining options and a fabulous outdoor pool it’s a win for everyone in your family.
The downtown area is the cutest – ever! Dine, shop, bike, boat or kayak the lake – you just cannot go wrong with a peaceful weekend at the lake. I am hoping I can get a quick trip on the books for he and I before the end of September.
