While these are just a few we have been reminding ourselves of regularly, as of late, if you have other helpful tips I’d love to hear them!  Feel free to email me directly or leave them in the comments below!  XO

  1. DON’T SLACK ON YOUR WORKOUT ROUTINE

I know, we are really driving this message home lately, right?

But honestly, when we talk about maintaining overall health, we have been reminding ourselves over and over that dropping our workout routine is just not an option any longer.  This year alone, Shawn and I have faced more health complications than ever before.

Heart Disease is the leading cause of death among women in America, but plenty of exercise can help keep your heart healthy.  Ideally, you want to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week, if not every day. Aerobic exercises (walking, swimming, jogging, bicycling, dancing) are good for women’s health in general and especially for your heart.

In addition, believe me; we need the reminder as much as you.  But, when we do stay strong and stick with our regimen, we sleep better, feel better, our skin looks healthier and we have a tendency to eat better overall, as well.

If this one is a sticking point for you, as it has been for us, see our recent post on Tips for Sticking With Your Workout Routine.

  1.  CHECK THE LABEL ON YOUR BEAUTY PRODUCTS

Taking good physical care of your skin involves protecting your skin from harmful chemical products and synthetic fibers.

Many products are made from petrochemicals and should be avoided because they are easily absorbed by your body (causing rashes, allergies, etc.) and transported throughout your system (causing all kind of health problems).

Therefore, it’s wise to use organic and hypoallergenic products especially if your skin is easily irritated, and it’s sometimes even safer to make your own skin care products to be sure they are 100% natural.

Be aware that all ingredients aren’t required to be listed on the label when they are used in small amounts and companies don’t have to pass strict safety tests.

The best way to be sure a product does not contain harmful chemical is to check if the company uses only the safest ingredients.

  1.  DRINK MORE RED WINE

You don’t have to ask me twice!

Everybody has some relaxing routine they like to do after a long day. There are many activities people choose to do, but the truth is that most of us like to unwind in peace and quiet with a glass of good wine. Has anybody ever told you that wine is not good for you while you were enjoying your well – deserved daily glass?

Red wine contains a high amount of antioxidants and the benefits of drinking red wine (in moderation) are extensive. From preventing tooth decay to protecting your eyesight, here are some surprising health benefits of red wine:

  • Helps with weight loss
  • Reduces the risk of certain cancers
  • Helps fight off the common cold
  • Improves mental wellbeing
  • Cares for your teeth
  • Promotes healthy aging
  • Protects your sight
  • Lowers body cholesterol
  • Prevents hair loss
  1.  PROTECT YOUR URINARY HEALTH

All women should be concerned about their urinary health. A healthy vagina is naturally acidic and contains rich quantities of beneficial bacteria that help fend off infections and maintain a normal pH level.  But, what do you do when you sense an issue or a decline in your overall urinary health?

Issue protection and detection can be difficult, ladies, I get it.  Which products do you use?  Which are most safe? How do you build maintenance into your daily routine?

AZO has a regimen of products to help you with every step of your urinary health and maintenance.  Whether it is protecting against or detecting a urinary tract infection, managing symptoms, or maintaining a healthy urinary tract, AZO has you covered.

This year in particular, I have experienced a number of feminine health issues.  I get it, that can sometime be uncomfortable to discuss in the open, but it is an issue many women face annually.

Nearly 75% of all women will experience a vaginal yeast infection in their lifetime according to medical research.  AZO Yeast® Plus helps relieve yeast infection symptoms like itching and burning, plus other vaginal symptoms like odor and discharge.

And, what about the dreaded UTI (Urinary Tract Infection)? A Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) can be a painful.  You may detect UTI pain when you urinate, in your urethra and in your back.

When your body feels pain, it is a way of communicating it may need a tad more TLC from you.  Unfortunately, that may be about all the pain can tell you. It is your job to look at the rest of your symptoms to see just what help is actually needed.

Ladies, there are a lot of steps you can take to help protect your urinary tract and overall vaginal health. Some of you may tackle the issue only when it arises and others may take a more proactive approach.  Either way, we can likely all agree, maintaining urinary tract health is very important.  Doing so will do amazing things for your overall mind AND body.

Adding AZO Cranberry® products to a structured daily routine is a step in the right direction towards maintaining urinary tract health.  Cranberries are jam-packed with antioxidants and can protect bacteria from attacking your urinary health.  AZO Cranberry caplets are made with clinically proven Pacran®, a super-concentrated whole fruit cranberry powder that helps flush to maintain urinary tract cleanliness, plus contains the benefits of vitamin C and a probiotic.*

Have you tried AZO products?  Which is your favorite?

  1.  GIVE YOURSELF REGULAR BREAST EXAMS

While the American Cancer Society suggests women no longer need to perform monthly breast exams, it does suggest them as “an option” for women, starting in their 20s.

When performing the exam on yourself, you want to be on the lookout for any changes in your breasts and report any concerns to your doctor.  All women 40 and older should get a yearly mammogram as a mammogram is the most effective way of detecting cancer in its earliest stages, when it is most treatable.

  1.  MAKE MORE TIME FOR LAUGHTER

‘Laughter is the best medicine’ and it is 100% true. Laughter zaps stress, improves cholesterol, and blood circulation and immunity.  A good laugh can do wonders to your overall mental and physical health.

Grab that wine above, snuggle up with a funny movie or book, or grab a close girlfriend and laugh it up, ladies!

  1.  PRACTICE SUN SAFETY

Excessive exposure to the sun’s harmful rays can cause skin cancer, which can be deadly. To protect against skin cancer, remember to apply sunscreen regularly with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 if you are going to be outdoors for more than a few minutes.

Even if you wear sunscreen faithfully, you should check regularly for signs of skin cancer. Warning signs include any changes in the size, shape, color, or feel of birthmarks, moles, or freckles, or new, enlarging, pigmented, or red skin areas. If you spot any changes or you find you have sores that are not healing, consult your doctor.

Hey there, awesome post. I have a ton of bladder issues (I have a fancy thing called a neurogenic bladder — basically, I lack bladder control as a result of a spinal cord injury — why did I not bring this up at dinner?! lol) so I’m always concerned about getting UTI’s. I had NO idea that this brand had a UTI detector test… will totally save me a trip to the uro. Thanks for the info — and loving all your other tips! Hello, red wine. 🙂
