If you were to ask my 20 something self what an ideal Friday night looked like, I’d likely respond with a fancy night on the town. The evening likely involved a fancy outfit, hours of preparation and an outfit completely unfitting for the weather.
Now that I’m in my 30’s, a great Friday night involves a really comfy set of pajamas, a good bottle of wine (or two), a classic movie with Shawn by my side.
As many of you know, we have been in the middle of a complete home renovations. The further along we get on the project, the more and more I want every night to be one at home – either with Shawn or close friends building on our holiday traditions.
We’re so excited to be partnering today with Wente Wintes to share with you all a few of our favorite holiday traditions we have built as a family.
Since I was a little girl, decorating the Christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving has been one of the most beloved of traditions. My mom always made the day so special and she did such a great job making our home feel warm and filled with love throughout the holiday season.
While many families decorate their tree with gorgeous, store bought ornaments, our tree was decorated with many of the same ornaments that have been in our family for years and years. Well into my teens, my mom continued to decorate our tree with the same ornaments her mom used, my dads mom used, along with all of the fun ornaments my brother and I made in grade school.
Over the years, I have tried my best to keep this tradition alive with my own family. I, too, now decorate my tree with ornaments that have been in my family for over 30 years, but also have tried to incorporate a few new traditions of my own.
A few years back, Shawn and I started the tradition of buying an ornament on each vacation we have ever taken. For the last 3-4 years, we have now collected a dozen or so ornaments from the various places we have been. This tradition allows us to relive all of the amazing memories we created on each vacation and allow us to celebrate all the incredible places we’ve been able to travel together.
Along with this tradition, I am also so happy to say Shawn has also done an incredible job saving a number of the ornaments Shawn made in grade school which we also include on three. This year, we’re happy to have gotten the opportunity to celebrate these great holiday traditions with Wente Wines.
Wente Wines is one of our absolute favorites! So much so, we took bottles with us recently when we traveled to Florida to celebrate my moms 60th birthday. You can read the full Wente Wines post here. Both their reds and white wines are so full of flavor at a cost that won’t break your bank.
Have you tried them yet? Which flavor is your favorite?
What are your favorite holiday traditions? Can’t wait to hear yours!
