2018 Best of Travel
2018 was really good to Shawn and I. While some were planned, and others were not, he and I had a chance to explore a lot of new places this year – and visit some familiar ones, too. This year, we fell in love with road trips and had a chance to return to our all-time favorite resort, Hotel Mousai.
Today, we are breaking down all of the great places we had an opportunity to travel and chatting about our travel plans for 2019.
I’d love your thoughts on what types of travel content you’d like to see from us in 2019. Shoot us an email or share in the comments below.

HOTEL MOUSAI
First up on our recap? The lovely, Hotel Mousai. As many of you may know, this location and resort is one of our all-time favorite locations to travel to. In fact, it’s the only place we’ve traveled to more than once. The food is amazing. The service is impeccable. It’s a five diamond resort and 100% magical.
Have you seen the rooftop view? If not, check out the full post above for all of the details on our Hotel Mousai experience.

LAS VEGAS
We had originally planned to share with you all a full recap of our Vegas vacation, but admittedly did not get around to sharing late this Fall.
My family and I headed to Vegas this past September to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday and had a truly wonderful time together. We were there for a full week (yes, I agree, it’s FAR too long to be in Vegas) and stayed at the Mirage.
This trip came at the perfect time for both Shawn and myself and my parents. The months leading up to the trip had been fairly stressful for us all. Time by the pool with cocktails was just what the doctor had ordered for us all.
The best past of the trip? Our adventure to the Hoover Dam. I was on the fence about playing tourist in Vegas, but it was well worth the afternoon commitment. If you ever have a chance to go while you’re in Las Vegas, definitely do it! You’ll love it! We rented a car for less than $80 for the day.

ROAD TRIP
Some of my favorite memories from our 2018 best of travel came from our road trips out east. Prior to this year I would never have thought road trips were my travel of choice. But, the joy of being in the car with Shawn, mapping out the route, fun stops along the way, the spontaneity of it all. We had a really wonderful time! So much so that we have been talking as a family about whether to invest in a camper for more road trips across the country in 2019!
There’s little something we are working to have in store for 2019 as it relates to this topic, but the pieces are still in motion. I am hoping to share with you soon!

GRAND GENEVA
The Grand Geneva is one of our most frequented spots locally. Just about 30 minutes north of us in Chicago, you can get the quaint town of Lake Geneva to enjoy quiet time by the lake and experience all that The Grand Geneva has to offer.

2019 Travel Bucket List
//
With 2019 officially upon us, our itch to travel even more has multiplied. This year, Shawn celebrates a milestone birthday and my plan is to take him to Europe. He nor I have ever been and the list of places we want to visit abroad is long! We think our first stop will be Morocco in June. I cannot wait, y’all!
Aside from a trip or two (or three!) to Europe, here are a few other places we hope to visit in 2019.
Montana
Shawn has been dying to go on a trip to the country. And by that I mean specifically a log cabin the woods with a hot tub. I know, it’s pretty specific, but that’s what he wants. Love him. I will admit, the thought of peace and quiet, a good book by the fire sounds really amazing.
Joshua Tree
I have been dying to go to Joshua Tree for the last several years. Who doesn’t love a good trip to the desert? Here’s the deal though, I’m not interested in heading to Joshua Tree during the busy season. Anyone have a good time of year they can recommend? Top list of things to do there? Stargazing is at the top!
Road Trip
Like 2018, I am most excited about our road trip possibilities. Just tonight he and I made a list of all of the places we would want to travel on the road and prioritized them. At the top of my list? Driving the entire coast of California. But, I’d also love to take 6 months or so to travel cross country. The possibilities for 2019 are endless as it relates to road trips, y’all. Honestly, it’s what I am most excited to share with you all.
Florida
Seems pretty simple, right? Florida. But, this year my parents retired and moved so we now officially have a fun place to stay near the beach. I’ll be traveling there in February for the office and we’re thinking of extending that trip. Specifically I’d love plan a trip to Miami and to Palm Beach. If you’ve been to either or both, let me know what we need to see and do!
Europe
Europe this year, please! The list is so long here! Italy. Ireland. South Africa. Morocco. London. This list can go on and on. First up, as I mentioned above, is a potential trip to Morocco for Shawn’s birthday in June. Our hope is to make the trip for 14+ days with a few
