Y’all, where do I even begin with sharing our favorite Fall trends this season?
Velvet. Leopard. Embroidered sneaker. Rick maroons. Yellow. Statement outerwear. Metallics. More velvet. Boyfriend blazers.
The list goes on and on.
For those of you who know me well, you know Fall and Winter (while beautiful) are not my favorite seasons. Sure, I love the Fall colors, pumpkins and the holidays. However, when it comes to Fall and Winter clothes, for someone who’s short, I feel like Fall and Winter clothes often make me look frumpy. I can never find OTK boots that fit. Jeans and pants are often difficult to come by without major, expensive alterations and coats often take over my frame.
That’s until I laid eyes on this leopard coat.
Y’all, it was like one of those ‘take my breath away moments’. Like, a stop everything you’re doing, grab a computer and a credit card and don’t stop until the order confirmation is received.
I ordered the jacket on pre-order and a good thing I did as the coat through J.Crew is now virtually sold out. But, lucky, I found several others I love at really affordable prices. Stick with me for more on that.
So, you may be asking yourself, where the HELL am I going to wear this leopard coat? I hear you. For about a split second I thought the same, but then, like lightening, all of these great outfit ideas started to come to me. Side note, y’all, this never happens to me. I really try to stick with the classics. Trends are often fleeting in my mind and I rarely buy into them – until this season that is.
Ok, so here are some initial thoughts I had for the coat. Of course, this really simple, every day look. Great black skinny jeans, a simple t-shirt stripe tee and these obsession worthy emboridered sneakers. I, too, will get back to both of these in a moment. But, I also immediately thought of wearing the coat with a classic, rich red dress (for some reason Kate Spade or Ted Baker came to mind), with killer pumps and a sweet little clutch bag – almost more of a holiday look.
I also love the thought of it with a classic fitting black dress for the office – paired with black leather gloves and a statement tote. I could go on all day. If you’re looking for more inspiration, see my latest ‘Fall Style’ Pinterest board. There are some really great looks which add a lot of variety.
Now, back to the jeans and sneakers. Two of my other favorite trends this season are high waisted denim and emboroidered sneakers. I know I said denim is just not typically for me, but I am learning this year that high waisted denim fits me best and compliments my figure more than others.
These black skinny jeans from Mott & Bow are divine. They have a nice dose of distressed detail at the knee and are really comfortable. I’ll go ahead and apologize in advance for the 100 upcoming posts these will be featured in. I think you’ll love them just as much as me.
I would recommend sizing up a size or even two if you don’t want them to be too snug. Usually I wear a 25 or 26 in most brands. In this case, I ordered these in a 26 and still found them to be a bit more snug than I normally wear. Just a thought.
As for these sneakers, I ordered them with all sorts of excitement and was even more thrilled when they arrived in the mail. I am normally a heels kind of gal, but there is something about the statement sneaker Fall trend that has really grabbed my attention. I LOVE these as a fairly affordable option, but have found several others that are SUPER cute and budget friendly.
