Y’all, we’re keeping it pretty casual today and giving you all a bit of a life update.
These last several weeks have been a marriage of craziness and excitement. Does anyone else need more hours in the day?
1. Renovations are in FULL swing!
You guys, I cannot tell you how excited I am to report our complete home renovations are in full swing. I have been getting a lot of questions regarding what we’re doing to the house. The short answer? Everything.
We are almost gutting the house entirely. Walls are coming down, floors are coming up, windows are coming in and furniture will soon be delivered.
As of this week, we’re officially living out of boxes and microwave dinners. The project is scheduled to be completed the second week of December and I’m over the moon excited.
I cannot wait to share with you all the final project. I’ll be sure to share all the details with you in the coming weeks!
2. Winter is here in Chicago (…I’m not ready!…)
Y’all, it was cold as hell this weekend in Chicago. And, it snowed.
Let’s be clear. I don’t mean a small dusting. I mean full on, cannot see 5 feet in front of you, snow. I’m just not ready.
With that said, I am ready to plan our annual Spring vacation. In years past, I have had a pretty solid plan in place for our annual trip we take in mid-February. This year, however, with everything else going on, I have no clue where to start.
Because our winters are so long here in Chicago, we typically choose a warm weather destination. In preparation for your Spring vacation planning, we’ll be sharing a number of our favorite vacations over the course of the next few weeks.
There are some really great destinations to share, y’all. I’m looking forward to having y’all check the posts out.
In the meantime, I need your help and suggestions on where we should head next. Have you been anywhere in particular you have really enjoyed? If so, be sure to share the details in the comments below. I’d love to hear your thoughts. I’ll share some of my favorite suggestions of your on InstaStories.
3. I became a Rodan + Fields consultant.
This may be the craziest decision I have made in a really long time, but one I feel really good about.
A good blogging friend I met a few years back introduced me to the brand and it’s a decision that took me a really long time to make. For years, she and I have been discussing it, but it just never felt like the right time. I’ll share the reasons I joined the business at length in a future blog post, but wanted to give you all a preview here.
I have been using the products consistently for the last several months and wanted to make sure I really loved the brand before sharing my decision with you all. I can honestly say it’s incredible the results I have seen thus far.
More than that, and one of the biggest rewards so far, is the incredible, positive, supportive group of women that are involved in this business. It’s really inspiring and uplifting.
Stay tuned for so much more!
4. Update on our non-profit goals
This is news I am disappointed to report. If you read our first Life Update post, then you know a true goal of Shawn and I’s has been to start a non-profit to help support our community in need. We’ve been doing the research, have come up with a name and a mission we feel connected to, but realize there is a lot that goes into starting this venture. Much more than we initially anticipated.
Now, that’s not to say we’ve not going through with our plans. Not at all. We are just taking our time to ensure we are really giving it, and the community, all that it deserves.
We’ve been doing a lot of research into what organizations already exist with our similar mission and where there are gaps in the community needs that we can fill. We want to be 100% certain we are serving the way those in need need. So much more to come on this front.
