WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE YOU BOOK YOUR STAY AT UNDER CANVAS
Before you book your stay at an Under Canvas location, there are a few things you may want to consider:
- BOOKING YOUR STAY – Under Canvas Moab is only open between the months of March and October each year. If you are looking to book your stay in 2021 be sure to do so before they close on October 25th. They will reopen in 2022 on March 3rd.
- THEY SELL OUT FAST – Stays at Under Canvas locations book up very fast. If you’re hoping to secure a particular weekend or week day, be sure to do so quickly. Also, special holiday can get a bit pricey.
- PARKING – When you arrive at the camp there is a small, central parking lot where you’ll park your car before checking in. Once you are checked in, an Under Canvas staff member will come around with a gold cart to escort you and your belongings to your camp/tent location. Be sure to pack everything you need as the trip back to your car can be lengthy based on your assigned site location. Also, it’s worth noting the paths around the camp are gravel.
- FOOD OPTIONS – It’s worth noting the Under Canvas Moab location does not offer dining like many of the other locations. However, they do offer first-come, first-serve grills for personal use in their common grilling areas. Grab-n-go provisions are also offered in the lobby marketplace. With that said, you will want to consider eating before you arrive at the camp.
- SOUND – IF it happens to be a windy evening, the canvas tents can get a bit loud as they wrestle with the wind. If you are a light sleeper this is something you may want to consider before booking your stay. Otherwise, it’s relatively peaceful and quite.

Under Canvas tents do not have air conditioning. However, they do provide USB fans in each tent and misting systems to help keep the tents cool during the summer months.

There is something for everyone on the menu including vegetarian choices, gluten-free options, and nightly specials.

Similar to most camping experiences, there are no electrical outlets available in the tents at Under Canvas. However, there are battery powered fans and lanterns with USB plugs so you can charge up to 2 cell phones.
If you are traveling with a medical device or CPAP machine and need a powered battery, feel free to contact your Under Canvas location in advance of your stay and they can arrange to have one available for you.
HOW SAFE IS THE UNDER CANVAS CAMP?
In my opinion, the camps were very safe and well maintained. Under Canvas staff members are regularly walking or riding golf carts around the camp to ensure all your needs are met. All locations we have stayed at are well situated off any main road, as well.
Quiet hours are enforced throughout the camp starting at 10:00PM.
IS THE CAMP LIT AT NIGHT?
Absolutely! If you need to move about the camp after dark, the camp uses solar lighting along all pathways and battery-powered lamps are made available in each tent.
The main reception tent and all shared bathrooms are well lit inside and out, as well.
ARE THERE FIRE PITS AT EACH CAMP SITE?
In order for Under Canvas to provide a safe camping environment for guests, they only offer communal fire pits that are lit between 7 pm and 10 pm nightly in the outdoor recreation area.
Also, don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy some time by the fire with friends and family with complimentary s’mores & roasting supplies. After all, what would glamping in Moab be without s’mores?!
NOTE: Depending on the number of guests using the communal fire pits, you can often get one you can use for your group alone.
HOW IS THE PARKING AT UNDER CANVAS?
As we mentioned above, when you arrive at the camp there is a small, central parking lot where you’ll park your car before checking in.
IS UNDER CANVAS MOAB PET FRIENDLY?
If you are traveling with our furry friend, you’ll be pleased to know Under Canvas is pet-friendly. There is a $25 per pet, per night fee. Service animals are welcome at the camp at no charge.
IS WIFI AVAILABLE AT UNDER CANVAS MOAB?
Because Under Canvas believes in taking advantage of the great outdoors and spending quality time with friends and family unplugged, there is no wifi available at their camps.
If and when we needed wifi, we had to use our cellular data. When we needed to work from our laptops, we create wifi hotspots from our cell phones.
It’s also worth noting, the quality of the wifi is entirely dependent on the location.
