What To Wear In Hawaii

A Lily Love Affair wearing a leopard one piece swimsuit on the beach in Hawaii

Your trip is booked and now you need to know what to wear in Hawaii? Today, we’ve got you covered!

We have been back from Hawaii now for a week or two and already ready for another beach break.  🙂

In Hawaii, I got a lot of questions regarding a number of looks we shared as I did not link most of them to the LIKEtoKNOW.it app.  As a result, I thought I would create a post for y’all summarizing everything I wore in Hawaii.

WHAT TO WEAR IN HAWAII

As with many of the other beach vacations we have taken in the past, so much of what we packed consisted of light, breezy dresses, versatile swimwear and comfortable sandals and accessories.  We traveled to Hawaii the first week of July and the weather was almost perfect.

As you might imagine, Hawaii can get warm this time of year, but it was not overly hot.  For reference, it remained around 85 degrees for the week with a few days of light rain.  Because of the heat, and light humidity, I wanted clothing that was flexible and breathable.  I also wanted to pack swimsuits that could also be paired with shorts for a full look at a beach club or lunch.

A perfect example is this leopard swimsuit in the first photo.  The swimsuit itself is so so cute, but it also looked really great with these faux leather shorts for a lunch date.  I also wore it almost like a bodysuit under a cute, long cardigan and jean jacket on a cooler evening.

WHERE TO SHOP

As I am sure you know, there are a million great places to shop for beachwear, but I personally have a few favorites.

First, when it comes to shopping in-stores, a lot of you know my go-to is Woodfield Mall (for all of my suburb friends). I’ve been shopping Woodfield for years now – and I mean YEARS. 🙂

It’s located directly across the street from my office for convenience.  I mean, my office window faces Nordstrom, y’all.  It calls my name every day.

So, my favorite in-store shops:

    • Everything But Water – I am Everything But Water’s new and in-stores.  There were so many great swimsuits, cover-ups and accessories.  I packed swimsuits almost entirely from here.
    • Zara – Zara has always been one of my favorite shops for on-trend items.  They have so many great dresses, tops, jackets for cooler nights – the list goes on.  Because their sizing can run big or small based on the pieces, I almost always try to shop in-stores, when possible.  You can find Zara and the second floor at Woodfield.
    • Nordstrom – This seems like a no-brainer, right?  Nordstrom is a great shop for just about everything on your list.  For this trip, I bought a really great backpack that I carried everywhere on this trip.  It’s a really comfortable Dagne Dover bag that’s perfect for travel.  We did a lot of hiking on our trip to Hawaii so the backpack came in handy.
    • H&M – If you’re looking for quality, but affordable looks and accessories then look no further than H&M.  Similar to Zara, their sizing can vary so I suggest trying on their pieces in-stores.  You can also find an H&M on the second story at Woodfield Mall near Macy’s.
    • Anthropologie – I love, love, love all things Anthro.  Their Free People collection is always my favorite for vacation must-have.  Their looks were perfect for all things ‘what to wear in Hawaii.’

Here are a few of my all-time favorite online shops, as well.  All of these shops below offer great return policies and have chic affordable styles year round.

  • est biggest fan!  Our trip to Hawaii was the first time I had shopped, both online
