HOW TO STYLE YOUR SUMMER DRESS FOR WINTER:
For many of us, snow is covering the ground this morning. But, don’t go packing up all of your Summer dresses just yet. Today’s post is all about how to style your Summer dress for Winter.
I bought this adorable floral print dress (below) this past Summer at J.Crew. Although it is slightly light in weight, the darker floral pattern and slip like layer under the dress made it the perfect fit to style for cooler months.
To transition this dress from Summer to Winter, the key is adding in layers that are more fitting for winter.
1). Add a turtleneck
I love a short sleeve dress layered with a turtleneck for warmth in the Winter. For this look, I chose a cowl neck style turtleneck, but a classic style would have looked just as adorable. The key is to find a turtleneck that is more form fitting to ensure it doesn’t bulk up under the dress.
2). Swap your Summer sandals for Winter boots/booties
Adding a great ankle length bootie or over-the-knee boot will really add pop and cool-weather style to your look. I have been wearing these particular booties with endless looks all Fall long. You cannot go wrong with them! Plus, with the holiday season here, there are a ton of great options on sale. I am linking several for you below.
3). Layer with a great jacket or blazer
For additional warmth and style, add a layering piece with a classic coat or blazer. I fell in love with this ankle length camel coat during the recent Mango sale (Mango has become one of my new favorite shopping destinations!). The camel color is really rich in person and gave this look some Winter elevation. Snag it now for 30% off!
Additionally, I always love a good classic blazer to really tie a look together. This over sized blazer has really become a closet favorite. I love the longer length.
