Love pizza AND ice cream? Combine the best of both worlds with this dessert recipe! Made with creamy Hudsonville Ice Cream and all your favorite toppings, ice cream pizza is the perfect sweet treat for every season!
You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! Ice cream pizza that is.
We are going to get right to it today with this simple, but sweet no-bake dessert recipe. We know you won’t want to waste another minute before giving this recipe a try.
At our house we are all about easy, yet crowd pleasing recipes. So, when my boys asked for an alternative to pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, I knew ice cream pizza was the answer.
Made with creamy Hudsonville Ice Cream, a graham cracker crust and all of our favorite toppings, this dessert got two thumbs up from everyone in our family.
There are few desserts we have made that are as quick to pull together (maybe with the exception of No Fuss Peppermint Ice Cream Sandwiches). What’s better is this ice cream dessert pizza is completely customizable and can be made for every holiday and festivity.
In today’s post, we are sharing our favorite ice cream brand, recommended toppings along with adjustments you can make for upcoming holidays.
INGREDIENTS FOR ICE CREAM PIZZA
FOR THE PIZZA CRUST:
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1/3 cup margarine or butter, melted
- 1/3 cup sugar
PIZZA FILLING:
- 1/2 pint of Hudsonville Extra Indulgent Salted Caramel Brownie ice cream (we also love Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream)
PIZZA TOPPINGS:
HOW TO MAKE ICE CREAM PIZZA
As we said above, this pizza dish recipe is incredibly simple to make.
Start by combining all pizza crust ingredients in a large bowl. Mix until well combined. On a pizza pan or baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spread graham cracker crust evenly on the pan forming a small pizza shape or circle. Feel free to choose your desired thickness. We like ours about 1/4 inch thick.
Using your hands, press the graham cracker crust firmly while maintaining the circle shape. Place the pizza pan in the freezer for 1-2 hours or until the crust has hardened.
Remove the pizza pan or baking sheet from the freezer and spread Extra Indulgent Hudsonville Salted Caramel Brownie ice cream (slightly softened) across the top of the graham cracker crust. Top with all of your favorite fixings including chocolate chips, toffee bits, hot fudge sauce, caramel sauce and more!
Place the dessert back in the freezer for an additional 2 hours or until the pizza has hardened.
When ready to serve, cut into pie slices or squares and watch your family beg for seconds.
TIPS FOR MAKING ICE CREAM DESSERT PIZZA
As this dessert is made with ice cream, you have limited time to work before the ice cream starts to melt.
I suggest warming up the hot fudge and caramel sauce before taking the pizza out of the freezer. Speaking of warm hot fudge and caramel sauce, I typically warm up the sauce slowly to ensure it doesn’t overheat. You want to make sure the sauce is warm, but not hot as to not melt the ice cream.
WHAT’S THE BEST ICE CREAM TO USE WITH ICE CREAM PIZZA?
Our family loves Hudsonville Ice Cream over almost any other brand. We fell in love with Hudsonville Ice Cream several years ago and never looked back.
They are a Midwest brand in Michigan. Their facility is right near their farms because they believe having their cows closer means fresher milk in their ice cream. Sometimes I even add a small scoop of their Limited Edition Peppermint Stick ice cream to my coffee or hot chocolate for that added wow factor!
